A few days ago, I went out and bought a cinnabon. Do you know what a cinnabon is? Let me explain it to all you fit people who have enough self-respect to just walk by things like that. A cinnabon is basically a three-inch high, highly-fattening cinnamon swirl that comes with a small tub of thick, hot syrup made for one sad fat man.
Society demands that people should look like Barbie and Ken in order to be acceptable. We see it everywhere–movies, TV shows, magazine advertisements. A few days ago I came across an article on the many unconventional ways through which people can lose weight and I thought, to hell with that. I’m fat and I like it.
And to all you people out there who are a bit on the overweight side and are regularly browsing through the healthy foods section of the supermarket or the selection of fitness videos at the DVD rental store nearest you, stop first and think about what you’re doing. Do you really wanna lose weight, or are you just thinking about it because you think it’s what other people want you to do?
In the aftermath of the final presidential debate for this campaign season, I only thought it proper to go back and re-live the highlights of the three presidential debates through the power of GIFs and other forms of media. And when you’re looking for GIFs, where do you go? Tumblr, of course.
In case you don’t know what I’m talking about, take a look at this. I’m pretty sure you know who they are even if you’ve never watched the show before.
FRIENDS is one of the most awesome things I’ve ever encountered. I didn’t watch it while it first aired. I was a kid then. The shows I watched ranged from animes like Naruto, Rurouni Kenshin, and Flame of Recca, to afternoon shows like Doraemon and whatever crap was on Disney Channel.
I only got to watch the show when I was already in college, sometime in 2010. I kept seeing gifs of the show on Tumblr and I got really curious so I tried it out. I bought a DVD of the first season, and I haven’t stopped watching and re-watching the episodes since then. Incidentally, this is also how I got to watching Team Starkid shows like A Very Potter Musical, and the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series.
Anyway, back to FRIENDS. This show will always have a special place in my heart. The thing about this show is that everyone can relate to it. FRIENDS is, just like the title suggests, about the power of friendship and how our friends help us get through life. This show taught me that life is crap, but having friends will make things a whole lot better. Another great thing about the show is that there are a lot of lessons that you can learn from the show and its characters, and almost all of the things from the show can be applied to everyday life.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past decade or so, you’re familiar with the Lord of the Rings movies. You might even be familiar with all the books that Tolkien has written on the history of Middle Earth. You might even be one of those hardcore fans who spent money to learn Elvish or Sindarin. Whichever you are, I’m sure you appreciate just how rich and alive the world of Middle Earth is, which is one of the main reasons why it has left such an indelible mark on the psyches of its fans in this world.
Also, you can’t deny how epic the movies were and the kind of impact that the characters left behind. You will forever see Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins, that whiny hobbit with hairy feet. For me, for example, Viggo Mortensen will always be the ranger Aragorn, which is why I couldn’t fully grasp his role as an ex-mobster in A History of Violence. These characters made my childhood awesome, and I still watch the movies even now.
Have you ever wondered what’s inside a woman’s purse?
I address this to all the guys out there because come on, what kind of guy isn’t even a little bit scared of a woman’s purse? And I say purse even though I mean all the different kinds of bags and things that women usually carry around, because (1) I have no idea what each of them are called so I’m going to use a catch-all rubric that is a ‘purse’ and (2) they all share the same mysterious and scary qualities.
